Only working together can we successfully fight Alzheimer’s

Despite setbacks in Alzheimer’s drug development, there is growing optimism due to advancements in science and technology. Nevada, particularly Las Vegas, is at the forefront with the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health. Current drugs in testing are based on past science, but improved understanding of brain proteins, early biomarkers, and advanced imaging techniques provide a more accurate path forward.

These advances enable earlier diagnosis, allowing patients and families to make informed decisions. Early detection is crucial, as treatment is most effective at the onset of Alzheimer’s. Moreover, delaying Alzheimer’s onset by even five years could halve its prevalence.

While challenges remain in drug development, success is within reach. Clinical trials are vital to progress, and federal funding is essential to sustain research momentum. With continued investment, major breakthroughs in treating Alzheimer’s are possible.
